Is LASIK actually safe?
LASIK is one of the most studied elective procedures in modern medicine. When performed by an experienced surgeon on a qualified candidate, the safety profile is excellent. Does LASIK hurt?
Most patients are surprised by how comfortable the procedure is. Numbing drops are applied before LASIK begins, and the surgery itself takes less than ten minutes per eye. You may feel light pressure for a few seconds, but pain is not part of the experience for the vast majority of patients.
How long is the recovery?
Most patients are back to normal daily activities within 24 to 48 hours. You will rest the afternoon of your procedure, sleep with protective shields the first night, and typically see clearly enough to drive the next day. Strenuous exercise, swimming, and eye makeup are restricted for about a week.

Will my vision stay corrected forever?
LASIK reshapes the cornea permanently, so the correction itself does not wear off. Your eyes can still change with age, especially when presbyopia develops in your 40s and reading glasses become helpful. Most patients enjoy clear distance vision for decades after the procedure.
Am I too old for LASIK?
There is no strict upper age limit. What matters is the health of your eyes, the stability of your prescription, and the absence of cataracts. Many patients in their 50s and 60s do beautifully with LASIK. For some older patients, alternatives like RLE may be a better fit, and we will tell you honestly which option suits you best.
What if I'm not a candidate for LASIK?
